Cheap and Cheerful, Colourful Cards

Baby wipe technique is one of my favourite. You don't need to buy tons of expensive supplies to do this technique. All you need is a pack of baby wipes (any brand will do) and 3 or 4 re-inkers (ink refills).

Colourful Butterfly cards

I have used ink refills by Stampin' Up!. There are plenty of colours to choose from, and you can match them with the card stock and embellishments too. They are a great value for money too! I bought mine over 2 years ago and they are nowhere near empty.

One thing I have noticed when using the wet wipes technique is that it works best with classic rubber stamps. Every time I used the photopolymer stamps, the result was never as good as with the rubber stamps. I expect it's because of the combination of ink and the moisture from the wipes that turns into a splodge when applied on to photopolymer stamp.

The other thing I noticed with this technique is that you can re-use the inked baby wipes several hours later as long as you put them in an air tight container. The colours will look slightly different though, as they bleed together and mix over time. Which is what happened when I used the same wipes in the morning and then later on in the evening.

List of supplies used:

* apart from baby wipes, ink refills and glues

  • Botanicals for You (Stampin' Up!)

'I will always love you' card

  • 29.7 x 10.5 cm coloured card for your base (Fresh Fig)

  • Always (Waffle Flower)

  • Butterfly thinlits (Stampin' Up!)

  • Love (by Sizzix - I have had this die for a while now but I am not sure what's the name of the set)

  • Sizzix multipurpose adhesive sheets

  • Mod Podge - Glossy

  • Glossy Accents

Large Butterfly 'Hello' card

  • 25.3 x 17.8 cm white card for your base

  • 15 x 10.5 cm coloured card for your base (Perfect Plum)

  • 14 x 9.5 cm white card

  • Butterfly thinlits (Stampin' Up!)

  • Hello (My Favourite Things)

  • Sizzix multipurpose adhesive sheets

  • Gems (Perfect Plum)

TOP TIP: I would definitely recommend to use the multipurpose adhesive sheet for all your die cutting. I have always found it tricky to stick my intricate dies onto card without getting glue everywhere. I have been using a spray mount to adhere my dies and it works a treat, but the smell is horrible. It smells like a cheap hair spray. Adhesive sheets are clean and easy, and they transform your die cut images into stickers.
