Workshops in Polesden Lacey
We have had the pleasure to deliver a series of Craft workshops for one of the National Trust's beautiful sites. Located in Great Bookham, Polesden Lacey is a beautiful estate surrounded by large grounds and woodland.
We were invited to run workshops in a yurt set within a walking distance from the main building. It was the first time the yurt was installed on their grounds and we were the first people actually to run an event in it.
The yurt was spacious and beautifully decorated ready for Christmas.
The only letdown was the weather - how typicall. On the first day it was pouring down with rain and we soon discovered that there were multiple leaks coming through the roof! Despite this, the two workshops we did on the first day were a success and everyone enjoyed themselves.
All the ladies in the first group made beautiful baubles. It was amazing watching Dina guiding them through the process and how well they were able to follow the steps and turn plain shiny baubles into unique and antique looking ones. My favourite part is applying the gold leaf. It adds so much sheen to the baubles and lifts it up to a completely different level. You just have to put up with being covered in specks of gold :-)
The second workshop we did was the Resin Jewellery Making. As always, it was such an amazing experience. I learn from the participants as much as they learn from me. They discover new ideas, combinations and looks that I haven't thought of.
We are very much hoping to deliver more workshops in a variety of National Trust sites in Surrey, Kent and West Sussex. If you would like to receive updates on upcoming events, make sure you subscribe to our newsletter!
